2025 Highlights

Education

  • Hosted School & Youth Education Programs to teach sun and skin safety.
  • Partnership with Girl Scouts USA, offering a Sun Safety Badge Program on a national scale and supported scout summer camp programs.
  • Provided free information and resources for the community.
  • Hosted outreach at Community and Corporate Health Fairs, Workout on the Green at Washington & Ziegler Park and more.
  • Sponsored the MKM Booth at the Flying Pig P & G Health & Fitness Expo.
  • Participated in the Best of Oncology ASCO Direct Conference.

Awareness

  • During Melanoma Awareness Month in May, provided information to the community through events, programs, health fairs and media outreach.
  • Partnered with local media for community awareness.
  • Partnered with the medical community.
  • Promoted awareness at friend and fundraising events, like the Flying Pig, the Susan Roebuck Memorial Golf Outing,  Music for Melanoma and more.
  • Created collaborations with KAO USA Inc. Biore and Happy Sunday; Beiersdorf Eucerin and Coppertone’ and L’Oreal LaRoche Posay and CeraVe to promote SPF 30 use.
  • Created new volunteer staffing opportunities with the Flying Pig; the MKM Beverage Booth at the Taste of Cincinnati working with the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber; and the Cincinnati Open Tennis Tournament.

Prevention

  • Provided our monthly FREE skin cancer screening clinics in partnership with area hospitals and dermatologists, adding a Grant County and a dedicated “First Responder’s clinic.
  • Continued our program partnership with SwimSafe Pool Management to deploy “sponsored” station dispensers providing free sunscreen to area pools.  Added pools in Lawrenceburg and Dearborn, Indiana to our service area.
  • Provided free sunscreen at for the community at Washington Park and Ziegler Park Pool in partnership with 3CDC.
  • Returned to host a booth at the Cincinnati Open Tennis Tournament to provide free sunscreen and skin cancer prevention education.
  • Created the “Ounce of Prevention Club” to promote prevention and early treatment.
  • Presented the Greater Cincinnati Melanoma Community Award to Brett Coldiron, MD, Mona Foad, MD and Lana Long, MD.

Patient Support and Research

  • New Partnership with DermaSensor to provide free three-month trial to primary care physicians to utilize AI for skin cancer screenings to expand access to patients.
  • Co-Chaired the Skin Cancer & UV Exposure Prevention Work Group of the Ohio Partners for Cancer Control of the Ohio Department of Health.
  • Partnered with the medical community to offer resources on treatment options.
  • Aided with appointment scheduling for patients with suspected melanoma, screened at an MKM Clinic.
  • Partnered with the Cincinnati Cancer Consortium to work with other cancer nonprofits to better support patients.
  • Increased opportunities for a cure through work with leading melanoma and cancer research organizations.
