We hosted our first ever War on Melanoma ™ discussion with keynote speaker, Sancy Leachman, MD, PhD. Dr. Leachman is a Professor and Chair of the OHSU (Oregon Health and Science University) Department of Dermatology and the Director of the Melanoma Research Program at the Knight Cancer Institute. She is the mind behind the War on Melanoma initiative, which is an all-fronts effort to eliminate melanoma across the globe.
The War on Melanoma is a a public health campaign to help the public to Start Seeing Melanoma. We had the blessing of hearing Dr. Leachman speak and were grateful for the support from our friends at the UC Cancer Center, UC Department of Dermatology, and UC College of Medicine.

Additionally, please do the following:
- Join the Melanoma Community Registry by CLICKING HERE. By joining the Registry, you will receive information about future melanoma-related research projects, educational events, and volunteer opportunities. You can also respond to survey questions and provide vital information to researchers seeking to find improvements in prevention and treatment.
- Download the MoleMapper™ Tracking App. The MoleMapper™ is a cellphone app available in Apple®’s App Store. MoleMapper™ will help to gather data for melanoma research and, potentially, impact health outcomes in individuals at risk for melanoma. Using your phone camera, MoleMapper™ tracks moles and how they change and grow over time. Rapid change or growth may indicate malignancy. MoleMapper™ also reminds you to re-check your moles regularly. By sharing mole images over time, researchers can develop new ways of evaluating moles and may (at some point in the future) be able to tell whether you need to see a doctor or have a mole removed based upon a cell phone picture.
